Show me your pond!
Discussion
There is a nice little thread running for tanks so what about us pondies
Im particularly interested in anything unusual or from outside the UK. Wildlife ponds are also great and make a wonderful addition to the garden.
My pond is of approx 4000 Gallons, 5m x 2.5m x 1.5m deep, currently stocked with 9 koi (garden center variety and re homed fish) and 6 Sturgeon also mostly re homes as they grow far too large for most ponds that they were originally bought for.
Here is a quick pic of it just after it was finished hence the tip of a garden;

I built it with my own fair hands and took me approx 8 months from planting the first spade to laying the last edging.
And a video of my fish through the window,

Here is a link to my pond thread http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a... I need to get some more photos on as its changed a bit now but stuck offshore at the moment. It now has a mixed hedge planted around the perimeter, some trees planted, a few pond plants in and the island and surrounding earth has started to grass over. Still a long way to go though and hoping that some frogs are going to turn up this Spring. Sure it will all start to come to life soon though.
Just the typical coarse fish, Carp, Roach, Perch, Tench etc. I'm in Scotland so they are classed as non-native even though most are found in local ponds everywhere and have done for centuries. It all depends what I get a license to stock.
You're pond sounds great, unfortunately I canot see the picture on the system out here. Guessing that you will probably have to re-home the Sturgeon as well at some point as they can grow longer than your pond!!

Some varieties can, I was careful in my selection, non of the ones I have should exceed 5 foot eventually.You're pond sounds great, unfortunately I canot see the picture on the system out here. teeming with the little buggers as it goes - they munched all the tadpoles last year as soon as the frogspawn 'hatched' - so we'll fish it out this year and put it somewhere safer
Is cool that we end up with baby newts hiding randomly round the garden too as a result
can get pics if you like
