My Type 49 is due a rear tyre change (225's)anybody running with Advans on rear and P Zeros on front?

Dearler wouldn't even sell me a set of rears.

Fronts have loads left on them, can't afford to change all 4 at once. P Zeros are not worth the money £225 each + vat and appear from threads to be inferior to Advans anyway.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread - my S1 needs new rears - Pirelli PZero's are nearly Pirelli Slicks - however fronts are hardly even worn, would seem a shame to throw them away - so the question being, has anyone run the fronts on Pirelli PZero's and rears on Advans ??

Does this matter, or alternatively, now it appears PZero's are back on the market, would I be better to keep fronts and rears matching ?? Are Advans that much better ??

Thanks in advance - slicks are no good in the wet, hence the urgency (too much rain recently!)

Thanks Tim - seems to be the consensus - but do you have Advans on the front as well, or do you have the original spec PZero's - I hadn't planned on changing all 4 tyres, so wondered if anyone had the Pzero's on the fronts and Advans on the rears - anyone any experiences with this combination of different fronts & rears ??

Yep, Advans all round. When I had them fitted the fronts still had plenty of miles left in them (I still have them in case anyone wants a very cheap set) but I knew that the Advans were just a far better tyre so I didn't mind the expense.

To be honest it's one of the best upgrades you can get - everyone gives them the and they really do make the car feel much nicer to drive.

For the sake of a couple of hundred quid you'd do well to get the full set. All IMHO of course! T

you can run different tyres front to rear but if you stick A038's on the front and F1's on the back dont be suprised by terminal understeer in the wet and loads of oversteer in the dry!

can anyone tell me or show me a picture of what the tread pattern is like on these tyres? do they have the sexy looking "V" type tread pattern?

I don't think they're availbale any more IIRC it's the fronts that they don't make. It was the boggo P-zero before the neros and rossos came out - they were standard fit on the cars when they first came out in 1996

The ADvans do have the sexy V pattern on them albeit an offset V toward the outside of the tyre.

cheers now
