I've got it down to £2850. Do you think this is a good deal or still over-priced?

There are loads of topics on these and from not very long ago.

Basically, they're cheap for a reason - the rotary engine is a ticking timebomb for a major rebuild, at which point the car is typically worth less than the cost.

High insurance, high road tax costs and high fuel consumption are the other reasons that the market is awash.

You might get lucky and get one with another 50,000 miles in it, or it might have compression issues already and you'll get no miles out of it.

It's a 192.

If you're wanting an rx8 I'll advise you to get the 231 model. Faster and just as "economical". The lower powered version only has 5 gear box and gets about the same mpg as the one with a bit more power.

Yeah I know the 231 is the one to go for but my current insurance company won't insure me on one. Test drove both and the 192 is plenty fast enough for me.

Loads of info on RX-8's, do a search and check out the RX8owners forum (use Google to find it).

Know what you are buying and why, then you'll be able to answer your own question tongue out

Personally can't see the point in getting a 192 over a 231 if it's a matter of a few hundred quid.

Hot start and a hot compression test are highly advisable to get before buying!!! And make sure you are fully aware of the costs involved should you buy a duffer. And don't expect it to retain value either, not even at this level. RX-7's can be had for as little as £600, the RX-8 is unlikely to be any different.

That's good value. Go for it; especially if it's considerably cheaper to insure.

The hot compression test is probably good advice though.

To be frank, no, it's not a good deal. Come over to Ireland and you'll get a rebuilt 2005 car for £1000 less. The issues and reputation of these cars is putting people off by the minute, and some people are getting out while they still can.
