Finally getting my flaky knackered alloys refurbed and need somewhere that will dip/strip/repair kerbing and powdercoat, and also be happy to keep the car and remove/refit wheels.

Sofar I have a quote from Max powder alloys, in Hemel, anyone have any experience of them?

Or any other recommendations within a 15 mile or so radius of st albans...

cheers.

I just used Letchworth Diamond Wheels for this they do a 1 day turnaround, jobs is 8/10.

Depends what you're looking for and what you are happy paying.

Hmmm. They did a decidedly average job on the wheels for our family wagon - I would have serious doubts about using them for the P&J...

well maxpowder alloys have quoted me £230 for 4 15" alloys refurbed in black, that includes removal and refitting/balancing. Thats about the most i'd be willing to pay tbh.

Got a quote of £216 from BJV engineering nr Hemel.

Also looking at a place called mintalloys...

With them storing vehicle etc the Max Powder quote is about right, It wouldn't be much less unless you took the wheels off and dropped them in to them (then it may be about £150).

Max Powder are not bad tbh. Not a huge fan of BJV sen some of their wheels and not a 5* job most of the time. The biggest issue is what are the originals like and who at these firms is doing the work that day. Tough decision

tbf the originals look crap (seriously bubbling and peeling paint, flaking off everywhere) but are not damaged per se apart from some light kerb rash...

So any wheel refurb will be a vast improvement, every time I was the car I ping more flaking paint off!

Max powder did a good job of both my Dads sets of alloys, will be using them when I get round to it
Believe were about £160 if you take the alloys off the car

I went for Letchworth diamond wheels in the end, they came in cheaper than the others, and price includes the centre caps, will also turn it around in 1 day....also have a 1 year guarantee on the work.

Car is booked in for beginning April, so will update this thread once works done smile

Car went in today, impressed with the finish, took them 6 hours to turn it around... So based on personal experience i'd say Letchworth diamond wheels are worth a go.
