immobilliser problems after engine swap

Just had an engine swap done in my 2002 156 2.0 t-spark, but the immobiliser isnt playing ball (because the bettery has been disconnected im guessing?) and the remote locking/unlock function of the key is borked.

is there a way around this, or will i have to get a new key from alfa?
