Reading about the Geneva show this week made me slightly depressed. Here we are in a massive recession with rocketing fuel prices and all we get is extensive coverage of a Bentley 4 x 4, a 730 BHP Ferrari and other exotic stuff. Where are the forthcoming super economical recession busting cars? Im not talking about Evs either.

I find it incredible that the only cars yet produced that could better a real world 70 MPG, were made over 10 years ago. yes, the original Honda Insight and the VW Lupo 3L. Here we are in 2012 and even so called economy models struggle to get into the high 50s MPG range in real world, ie. not EEC artificial testing conditions.

....Its like deck chairs on the titantic time. Is it just me who wonders where it will all end?!

The new CX-5 and 6 replacement look pretty good! Next MX-5 should have some skyactiv tech too.

You're just looking in the wrong place. There is a few interesting things to come out of Geneva this year... top one for me is this:

Plug-in hybrid with 300cc generator. Makes perfect sense in a car of this type.

They certainly do.

Few weeks until we get one IIRC.

Production version of the Renault Zoe. Plus others like the electric Morgan? Also the Volvo V40 with the first bonnet airbag?

Zoe will be about £14000 and looks the same as the original concepts. Thank god, even the rear lights made it.

At the 2009 show, at one end; an air powered car and at the other end, a Mansory Bugatti Veyron Vincero with 1109hp.

Now that is progess. smile
