Having just read this on the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17310468 . If Rangers did go into liquidation and then reformed as Rangers UTD (for example) could they not apply to the English league which from a business point of view would be a much better option. If they can cut the cloth they could be in the most lucrative league in the world within 2-3 seasons rather than fighting their way up from the Scottish third to be back at square one?

Is there a law that forces a new club to register with the SFA if they are in Scotland or the FA in England.

As I understand it they would be free to apply to the FA and its leagues, but would they let Rangers in?

If they did I think 2-3 years is a tad on the optimistic side. They would at a guess be put in the Conference National/Blue Square Bet Premier, so you would be talking their 5th year down there best case scenario, probably about 8 in reality, if they could get out of the Championship.

A good thing? Some might think so, I don't. I'd like to see the club continue with its history intact (blemishes and all), pay back its debts owed and rise to the top again through hard work.

I think you vastly overrate the standard of that league. It's competative but it's nothing more than that.

Rangers are not a Sunderland/Middlesbrough/Southampton. They are a giant club stuck in a small country.

On topic though, I never thought of them applying for the English leagues. That would be an interesting scenario though. It doesn't look like its going to happen though as it looks like they will have a buyer coming in.

are they ? even success in Europe is no assurance of week in week out ability at the highest levels ...

Just trying to be realistic, who knows where Rangers would be starting from financially if they liquidate. I don't think it would be wise to assume they would just fly up the leagues without a problem then its all rosey once we've reach the dizzy heights of the Premier League.

I'm a Rangers fan but you have to be realistic about things.

But you're confusing the ability of a team with the size of the club. Two very different things.

Note: I am not a rangers supporter

Would it be a good idea of prospective buyers to let them enter administration, resurface as another team possibly able to enter the EPL?
Surely seems like a better business oppurtunity? More teams in the premier league, probably bigger crowds.
That's if they could enter the English leagues.

They should not be allowed to enter the Premier League. They should have to do what any new club would do and work their way up. They have no rights to enter English foorball at any level other than the bottom (i don't mean Sunday league, but the bottom of senior football)

Rangers leave Scottish football I imagine that would be the end of the league.......there would even less competition than there is now and TV companies and sponsors etc would have very little interest.

I think there's a deal in place involving Paul Murray, Ticketus and a fans organisation. Someone mentioned the owners of Sale rugby club as well.....and I hear a rumour of a deal done with HMRC too....10p in the £ was whispered.

in that case the top flight of English football would contain Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds and the Sheffield clubs on the basis of their support ( actual for Newcastle and the Mackems, arm chair for Leeds and the Sheffield clubs)

Is this thread not about the possibility of a new Rangers club forming after the tax man gets his pound of flesh? Surely the picture is very relevant in that it shows that some Rangers fans clearly don't want to walk away from the wreckage.
I'll leave you and the rest of your pond life friends to argue amongst yourselves.

To avoid any confusion, I am not Celtic fan in any shape or form, just an honest tax paying citizen. wink

It's not relevant at all, but it's how scum conducts itself. The aim's to get other scum to post supporting comments mocking the wheelchair guy.

Trying to ridicule and humiliate people weaker than themselves is their way of compensating for their own lack of self esteem. In this instance it's not succeeded so the insect has crawled back under its rock. Hopefully it won't be back.

I don't see anyone mocking the person in the wheelchair, certainly not me. Maybe the irony is lost on someone like you.
