Hi

I don't know the rules, so please don't shoot me if I am not allowed to say this, but ....

I took my car to LS Power today ( that's the bit I am not sure if I am allowed to say ), and what a great day with some great people! I know a thing or two about mapping and electronics, and Mark certainly knew his stuff!

The car is now doing a nice safe 520bhp, really crisp and driving it for a few miles showed really nice manors - no lurching etc .... so I am chuffed to bits. Its all done!

All I've got to do now is drive it - I can't wait until tomorrow!

Anyone else out in Kent tomorrow for a coffee somewhere?

Gareth,

Is that std or with a replacement cam? Can you post pics of your exhaust and cat setup?

Excellent results there. I can see Kyle reading this thinking "I told you ls3s were a better bet than ls7s" smile

Hi

That is a stock ls3 with no mods what so ever. The exhaust and the mapping must be absolutely cracking.

It is interesting to note that the car was dyno'd elsewhere a while ago as a shake down and it produced within 3 bhp of the 'IN' figure that LS Power / Mark measured, so I really believe the results.

Photo's soon - I have to EXTREMELY reluctantly sell it (boohoo!) - my health is not good and is getting worse. Driving it today was amazing. It behaved perfectly, even in a little traffic jam.

OMG, I am not used to being stared at everywhere I go - it is quite unsettling and I can't say I like it - I am a rather withdrawn kind of chap.

I am certain that you all know this, but it has SOOOOOO much power! OMG 2nd, 3rd to 4th flat out is a blur - the rear spinning through every gear. 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th is spin the whole way!

AWESOME!

:-) :-( :-) :-(

( Sorry for the over-the-top post, but I am giggling inside - all life's woes and worries GONE for a while )

LOL, yes, Kyle! He has saved me fortunes and has only given me great advice.

Kyle convinced me to go the LS3 route as opposed to the LS7 route. I am so happy that I listen to him (It took quite some convincing). For a start I am already doing more power than a 'stock' LS7, the engine is ( as I understand it ) a newer engine than the LS7. It runs a lower compression ratio, and does not suffer the LS7 'splitting piston head crowns'.

I originally had my heart set on an LS7. Even bought the ECU, loom +++. However I happen to have a transaxle / clutch capable of 1200 bhp and have a fuel system capable of 1000 bhp, so thought that a supercharger with a mild amount of boost would be perfect. Apparently 650 bhp is fairly easy to achieve without major mods to the engine. And so I designed the rest of the system around a later supercharger. The exhaust is all 2" going to 3" ( and the power of the engine seems to point to this working really well ), larger radiator, clutch, fuel sys, gearebox etc etc.

HOWEVER, after driving the car at 520bhp, I can't imagine how you boys with BIG hp are living with it. Maybe after a lot of time I would have become 'conditioned' to the power and would want more. In which case a fairly simple power upgrade would be possible.

:-)
