help my head is about to explode

Hi all,

I want to take my mrs to the Monza F1 GP this year for her 40th after she took me to the british F1 GP last year for mine. Problem i have is that she is a teacher so we can only really do the Fri to Mon and despite hours searching on the internet i am none the wiser on the best seats, best place to stay any issues/problems etc in fact its got that bad lately i have thought about binning it off i simply just cant find either a package that doesnt require me to sell one of my kidneys to fund it or getting all the main parts eg flight, hotel, transfers and tickets together. We are more than happy to camp, any advice would be awesome before my head pops off with frustration and if the help is from anyone else going, beer tokens are ready :-)

It may be to late for this year, I dont know, Im not into F1.

From a viewing perspective - and this is from a bike sport fan whos only seen it on the box - I would want to be either on the outside of the parabolica, the end of the start/finish or up at Acari.

We went with general access tickets - rented the portable TVs and sat with the Italians... was great fun. Amazing atmosphere. It's such a high speed circuit that there a few good overall viewing points.

Stayed in Como and trained in to the city - free bus transfer. I think the train was €3.50.

Have a look at Motor Racing International, I've travelled with them a few times and I think they even do a race day only return trip if youre really stuck for time.

Monza has loads of good viewing spots. For the Grand Prix itself I sat at the first chicane. The view up the s/f straight was obscured by trees but we could see the cars in the braking zone for turn 1 and off towards Curva Grande. there is a nice big telly there too which is useful.

If you have time you must take a wander around on Fri/Sat. You can get really close to the cars as they brake into the second chicane as well as the inside of the lesmo corners. Youll only catch glimpses of the cars there but thats all you need!!

The atmosphere is wonderful and the park itself is so pretty. I remember sitting in the sun on a lawn behind my grandstand an hour before the start and it was so peaceful you couldnt quite believe you were at a race track let alone for a Grand Prix!!

We've stayed in Bergamo, a nice hostel, which is really just a flat, was cheap and 40 mins and 4euros or so to get to the track. Stay as close to the station as possible

Ryanair do cheap flights to Bergamo

I've always gone general access. First corner would be the best place to sit, or possibly the second chicane. Ascari puts you too far from the track

The atmosphere is indeed amazing. Walking the track after the race is very special.

Sat with the locals in general access, wearing a Ferrari shirt and cap - they make you feel very welcome, even if you can't understand what you are saying. If you have one of the Kangaroo TV / Fanvision things - they love you even more as you can update them on the running order and share it round. In return they share nice local food and a glass of wine.

I went last year, general access and sat with the locals at the Second Lesmo, (I think!) was a good laugh and a good atmosphere!



We had a Jamaica flag incase we got split up, made finding each other in busy area's easier! It got us noticed a fair bit, for the reasons we wanted!



Walking down the straight and through the tunnel made my ears hurt, then after the race we walked the track in the sun. An awesome day.



We camped on Friday night and had an hotel on Saturday, we drove in, well as far as we could, then used the park and ride from a secure multi story. I can probably dig all the details out if you fancy them!
