I have not used one with shortshift but I have considered it a few times but don't see worlds of benefit from it unless you are going to track the car. Also it will feel like the gears have been moved a little from their usual place, or so I have been told. It is a simple mod though, reasonably cheap and easy to reverse if you don't like it.

I would be curious to see what you think of it though if you do go ahead with it;)

Thanks for the reply smile.. Think i will bite the bullet and order one should have it on in a couple of weeks.. My thought for getting one was more to change the way the gearbox felt than as a trackday item.. I really love my car but i had a Type R before and that box was amazing (trying to replicate).. I will leave my thoughts on here about it once its done..
Cheers

I know what you are saying about the Type-r, it really is a great gearbox and perfectly placed!

Ok then i fitted the shifter today which only took 20-30mins..
I am very pleased with this mod, it has changed the feel of the gearbox and the driving dynamics of the car has transformed for the better (subaru should of done this as standard)
All in all the gear change is more precise, tighter & just more positive..(Amazing)
Highly recomend

Hope the link works..
It was an easy fit, You need.
2- 14mm spanners
1- 10mm ratchet with extension
1- hack saw
1- lump hammer (to persude the shifter into place)
+ some extra washers they dont supply enough.
With all these to hand it will take 20-60 mins depending on luck or skill it's a easy Diy fix

I fitted a CDF quick shift back along. The biggest ballache was getting one stick out and the next one in. The pivot (ball) on the end is a couple of thou bigger than the socket it goes into, for a nice snug fit but this makes it a nightmare to get in, grease added for good measure.
I got it in in the end, but it took some downward force!! Results were, and still are, a nice short precise throw. No performance increase, surprisingly enough!!

I found turning your original gear stick 180 degrees, and pulling back while pushing down in one movment towards the handbrake the most effective way.. As i mentioned part of my tool kit was a lump hammer to persuade the new one in,, Grease and 1 swift stike and job done..
Get in there!!
