hello
just some words of wisdom needed really.
i have a 170bhp metro 650kg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2QjR8IXtXQ&lis...

for the last 7 years ive ran slicks big wide ones.
this season ive changed to treaded from the 1b list so i can race with similar cars.
ive with much deliberation gone for the acb10 medium compound.
im wanting to know if the car will feel different and in what way,
will i get a progressive slide?
will i get understeer/oversteer?
will my first lap be a slow one till the tyres are warm?
will it just snap into a spin if i push it to hard?

ive put a link on here to show you how it performed on slicks.
i dont think i ever pushed the car as hard as i could have on the slicks and im hoping my lap times are similar with the acb10 s
has any one else gone from slicks to treaded has anyone one used the acb10s.

Can not speak from experiance going from slick to list 1b, but surely a test day/track day would be the best bet?

ive used both.
from my experience, ACB10s are a slick carcass construction (crossplies) mega light compared to other 1Bs that are usually raod car carcass construction with added steel/rayon in the sidewalls making them very heavy, so form taht point of view, they are akin to slicks.
as for being able to lean on them like slicks, id say not. at 650kg you are probably towards the top end of the weight limit for the tyres, but at least you will get heat in them, some of the featherweight cars dont have seem to have enough weight to get the tyre to 'work'.

crap in the wet too, but then all 1Bs seem to be poorer than their road tyre equivalent. Im sure you found with the slicks, they are really good in the damp and even wet except for standing water which gets scary!

you will almost certainly have to look at spring/damping and ARB rates too. I found that when my car felt stiff and perfect on 1Bs, the extra grip of slicks put so much more laod into the chassis that the sprinsg and ARBs felt like a jellycar!

in conclusion, good for 1Bs, but they aint slicks imho

My experience with ACB10s on a caterham (circa 650kg) is that they are very progressive and not at all snappy.

I'm going the otherway for this season 1b's to Slicks. VW Golf 750kg 170 bhp. So would be interested to hear what is available on 15'' 8j max rims.
