Insurance anomaly

Just had a quote...it is £22 cheaper for my car to not have an immobiliser than if it did!
As well as that it was also £10 cheaper to state it would be parked on the road rather than on the drive, or even in a locked garage.
what the hell is going on!

My quote was £800 cheaper without any security features compared to immob+tracker
. Admiral Single Car policy.
Admiral tried to explain the tracker bit to me, apparently unless its a really high value vehicle or exclusive/desirable to joy ride vehicle eg noble, then it will always make it more expensive to insure
. Admiral Single Car policy.Due to the fact, they think that you will be taking it to dodgy places, otherwise why would you have a tracker on it, thats the way they look at it anyway

I just took a policy with them. Maybe I should call them back and tell them my car isn't fitted with locks and that you don't need the key to start it, I wonder if they will give me a much lower quote

They won't, but only because they don't have claims stats for that. If it proved that cars with 'steal me' signs in the window get stolen less, the premium would be lower.

Not necessarily as there's less chance of your car being driven into when its not on the road
This is true but with more and more cars being stolen by having the keys taken, how do you know which house has the keys when on the street. Also insurance co's use statistics and as most folk assume its cheaper in the garage they insure it there so there are more claims made on policys were the car is in the garage so statistically is a higher risk.
