There is a non return valve (that's what I'm told it is) in the hose line near the washer bottle and when the engine, etc. gets nice and hot and I try and use the washers the pipe attached to the washer bottle blows off the valve with the result that the washer water then sprays all over the engine bay - and cats - plenty of steam! I've put some foil round the valve to try and keep it cool but whilst that has helped it isn't really a good solution. I've been told that nipping a bit off the end of the pipe and then reattaching it will sort it out but is that the answer as presumably it can then happen again in a little while? I'm sure others will have had this issue and wonder if there is a (very) small clip that I can get or perhaps a little wire gently tightened round the end of the pipe - any ideas/experience appreciated.

You can get very small and thin cable ties which do the job a treat.

Good thought Mike - I assume you use the tie as a clip for the hose so so how small are you talking about?

Theyre plenty long enough to avoid being fiddly, but also plenty thin enough to fit around the pipe joint and grip the pipe onto the joint very effectively-will never come off.Try 2.5mm ones
