Strange pay (possible pay rise discrepancy)

Hi there, basically i was an apprentice as of 2 or 3 weeks ago. With the company I work for, you have to have an official interview on 'coming out of your time'. I passed the interview and as of last Saturday am being paid as a full time/fully qualified employee.

I was told i had a job, straight after my interview. two days later i was given a letter that my basic wage would be £430 a week.

i work a 37 hour week. Yesterday i went to sign my official contract, next to my contract (although not in it) was a hand signed letter saying that my basic annual salary would be £24'430.

Now if you do the maths...

£430 x 52 = £22'360

£24'430/52 = £469

so obviously i'm making a fundamental error with my maths or there's a pretty large discrepancy there!

we're are paid a month in 'loo', so i'll have to wait nearly 6 weeks to see what i'm going to get paid. so i'm not really sure weather to query it now, or wait on it.

how should i play it, where would i stand if they say they've made an error on the figure i signed my contract next to?

If your contract states the higher figure, that's the figure that's been agreed. They might want to vary it at some point, but since it's been signed by both parties, both parties have obviously read and agreed it.

Check the rates/queery them with HR.My last job had a pay rate of so much, but an hourly rate of another figure because of some way of working out the wage rates.

Will you be required to work the odd Saturday or something like that?

Also £430pw is £22,421pa as there is slightly over 52 weeks in a year, just to be pedantic.
