pretty dumb i know but totally flat battery and cant get bonnet open on my 1998/9 c2 996.
its pre the fusebox live pull out tab so no joy there - i have plugged a halfords cigarette/lighter booster into the lighter socket then to a booster pack - hoping to get enough juice just to open the bonnet but still no 'click'. all i need is to get the bonnet open to charge the flat battery.
any ideas please

go over to 911uk and do a search on the 996 forum. I had the same problem AND my door lock wouldn't work, so I was completely locked out of the car.

Depending on which model/age car you have dictates which front wheel arch you need to look under, but basically you undo the 3 (I think) plastic bolts/screws holding in the wheel arch liner and, with much huffing and puffing, ou reach up towards the front of te car and find a cable, much like a bycycle brake cable, give a pull and it'll release your boot lid catch.

I would suggest looking at the 911uk forum as you'll get diagrams and a much better explanation....

Hope that helps....

or of course try to jump start the car using the terminals in the engine bay which should then give you enough 'juice' to pp the boot lid...you can undo that cover with a similar cable tucked behind one of the rear light clusters...and this is much easier to get to....

I had this previously and got in by pulling the engine cover release handle by the drivers door - it needed someone else to lift the engine lid from the outside (maybe easier if you have a rear wing) at the same time as I pulled the lever. Then you can jump start it.

Happened to me before - by far the easiest route is to pop the engine hood and use the jump terminals in there so get enough power to pop the hood open.

oh well ive tried most of the options still cant pop it.
my 996 has the silver metal levers that have an electronic stop block so cant budge it.
all the fuses are good but cant get any power transfer from ciggy lighter either.

Don't let anyone who is not knowledgeable on the cars mess around with it. I locked my keys in a car on holiday and called a local garage out, he tried the above and managed to blow the cruise control.
Still couldn't get in.
