XKR - 3 months in

I thought i'd post up some photos of the 2004 XKR I bought in early January
It was in very nice condition, but i've had a few little things done on it since collecting it
I had new V-mounts, upper wishbone bushes, and a new gearbox sump / transmission fluid change straight away. David Marks in Nottingham did the work, as he was near the dealer where I purchased the car, and did the PPI - David was a thoroughly nice chap to deal with
The bodywork was in near immaculate condition, though showed plenty of swirl marks and had 2 very small dents that were barely perceptible. Kelly at KDS Keltec in Gillingham detailed the car, with a silver package paint correction, and had the dents removed. I also had the underside and wheel arches waxoyled to try and keep rust at bay. It looks immaculate in the flesh and hard to believe it's nearly 8 years old
I decided to fit some new reflectors and clear side indicators, as the original orange lenses stood out particularly against the zircon blue paintwork. I decided to use clear reflectors on the front and red at the rear, as the red seemed to complement the red rear lights better. The replacement reflectors and indicators were from Adamesh, and were very easy to fit, being affixed with doubled sided 3M tape. The customer service from Adamesh was excellent
The dealer had the rear wheels refurbished just before delivery, but the finish wasn't great (smart repair) and the fronts were ok, but had a couple of scuffs, so I had Lepsons in Gillingham (opposite KDS Keltec) refurbish all the wheels, and the difference is enormous - Lepsons are superb
The only little job left is to deal with some condensation in a front light assembly, and find an arrow head plastic fixing for the front wheel arch liner - i've found somewhere but they charge a fixed £6 + VAT to send a part worth £1.25, which isn't huge in the scheme of things, but seems mad
It's a fantastic car that is a pleasure just to look at (the curves and styling, on the front end particularly, make it one the best looking cars IMHO) and is a joy to drive. Smooth, comfortable, quiet, and very very fast when you want. The GT type handling is rather less inspiring compared to my other cars which are more sports cars, but it's being used as a daily car and for longer trips so not too much of a drawback. Maybe i'll look into dropping the ride height / suspension in a while. The only real niggle is the cabin is relatively snug for such a big long car, and as i'm 6' 3" i'd have appreciated a little more room

re the condensation: they all seem to do this, including mine!
What I've done, with some success, is to buy some packets of silica gel off ebay and then put a couple in each of the headlights via the top plastic hatch.
They absorb the moisture nicely,
Worked for me on my '05 XK8. Make sure you get the commercial sized packs, they work a treat, 2 per headlight. I just did a 'service' on them in the oven and weighing them before and after they lost around 20gm each of moisture. What I've done, with some success, is to buy some packets of silica gel off ebay and then put a couple in each of the headlights via the top plastic hatch.
They absorb the moisture nicely,
James
BTW very nice looking Growler!
If you're not already aware, there is (or was) a 'fix' for the headlights.

I have seen the diagrams for it posted somewhere, but can't find at the moment.

I think i'll try fitting the T-section tubes, assuming Jaguar can still supply them - sounds a good long term solution
