Continental Conti Sport Contact 5P, I believe E63's come with these from the factory.
I have these fitted on my car and they are very good.

How have you found these on a C63?

I seem to be in the minority of not rating these tyres at all. I have them on a (lowly!) C220 cdi and they struggle to achieve great levels of grip under hard acceleration on anything but a bone dry smooth road, have only lasted 11k miles too which for the price I think is pretty poor!

Unfortunately i have no other tyre to compare them to (on the C63 anyway). I have been used to the grip levels of the 911 (much wider rear rubber, and engine weight over driven wheels) so the Merc is a totally different learning curve - 487hp on 255 rubber is always going to be a tyre-shredder! The 63 flashes it's traction lights when you mash the throttle at anything below 40mph - in the dry hehe

Surely if Merc approve and fit them, then they *should* theoretically meet their standards for level of grip etc?

I run the Michelin Pilot Super Sports - 265/30 R19 fit fine and give you an extra cm of rubber. Brilliant tyre.

Others say the Conti 5s are better than the Conti 3s. I originally had Yokohama Advan Sports which were shredded within 5000 miles.

These....mine has just ticked onto 25k and I put Conti 5's on the rears replacing the Conti 3's and they are a good bit better in grip and wear too.
Now fitting the same to the fronts...also checking the toe-in as the inside edges of the fronts have worn harder than the rest of the fronts. Mainly due to the weight up front I am guessing but will get it all checked out whislt I am there.

I think early C63's came with OEM Yoko's for a while too......not sure how good the longevity was on them. But then thinking about it the rears will only last as long as you're careful with the throttle..hehe

Ace. Might just have to try these!

Thanks for the replies guys smile

eta - some of the boys across the pond are using 275 rears! Would this not be pushing it on a 9" rim?
