Anybody recommend a nice restaurant for a birthday meal in Worcestershire (closer to Bromsgrove, redditch the better)
Open to ideas but 1 thing I hate is a restaurant that crams people in and it's really loud.
Cheers.
Four Stones at Clent is nice (pricey), Deedar Indian on Barnt Green high street is great for a curry and the newly restored Queen Vic by the station serves high quality food (little pricey mind). Open to ideas but 1 thing I hate is a restaurant that crams people in and it's really loud.
Cheers.
+1 for the Four Stones at Clent - albeit pricey

The Orange Tree at Chadwick End, Nr Knowle

Boot is the same owners as the Malt Shovel I believe.
Depends HOW nice - Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham has 2 Michelin Stars, and from our visit last year just about deserves them (very definitely 1+ - couldn't fault the place, but not quite as 'wow' as Petrus was a few years before). Spent close to 200 on 2 people plus wine etc...
Otherwise The Crab Mill has been recommended to us by a few people.

I wouldn't personally bother with the Crabmill - nice venue, but they take an age to get the food out and it's average. If you want that type of thing go to the Boot at Lapworth instead - the menu is practically the same and I prefer the setting. Otherwise The Crab Mill has been recommended to us by a few people.
I have seen that ex Edmunds Hesd Chef, Andy Waters, has just become Head Chef at The Queens in Belbroughton. Lady B.J.W and I spent a number of great evenings when Edmunds was located in Henley in Arden, although the magic was never quite the same at Brindley Place. I spoke with him a few years back - he was looking at buying the Old Pump House at Tardebigge, so it's great to see him back in the local area (his wife works at The Queens as well) Edmunds had the Star in Henley, and I can only see it being a matter of time before a new one is awarded.
There are two pubs near the mazak factory. The one has a chip shop built into the side so whatever to have you get chip shop chips. They do a jerk chicken there which is one of the nicest meals I've ever had. The red lion rings a bell but I was only there for two weeks about a year ago.

All of those are a good shout I'd also add is the already mentioned Vic on Barnt Green high street. I go at least once a week for a bit to eat as its my local and would recommend to anyone who fancies some good 'pub grub' at reasonable prices. I would suggest booking in advance as it can get busy depending when you'd be looking to go. also....

Went with a good friend of mine to the Wildmoore Oak last week and it was nice as well! http://www.wildmooroak.com/
Slightly further afield is Saxon Mill - also a nice place. Its a sister pub to the Barnt Green Inn and Lyttelton Arms. Id recommend either the Lyttelton or Saxon Mill over the BGI for food though as I've always found them to be better in that department. BGI is nice if you ever just fancy a beer/ale/wine. Website for Saxon Mill is http://www.saxonmill.co.uk/
