I'm planning on going this year, really want to capture the whole day. anyone got any recomendations as to where the best of the track action usually is. Also, anyone know if you can walk round the whole track. thanks in advance
It's not possible to walk around the track, unless it's changed since I was last there. The two main areas for action are the final chicane and the campbell cobb seagrave complex. The chicane probably gets most action but it also gets very crowded trackside.As said, the chicane becomes a bit of a bunfight for space, I always seem to end up with someone in the way or not limited room to pan.
You can do side on panning shots between Allard & Campbell, especially on the entrance to Campbell. You won't really need a long lens here and could catch some action as they all get on the brakes.
If you shoot at the complex you need 250mm+ really. There is a raised bank so you'll get over the fence (or get close and shoot through it).
If you can go on the Saturday or Friday if they are doing practice. Less crowded, more room to move around.
