Road trip from Aberdeen - route suggestions?
Discussion
Since I have 3 weeks of gardening leave and the weather is forecast to be nice all week I'm tempted to kill some time by having a nice little road trip.
Does anybody have any good routes, preferably out towards the west coast. Would just do it in a day, leave in the morning and return mid afternoon. I've never really been out past much further than Aboyne/Braemar so would be good to drive some good roads.
Also, if anyone is keen to join me then feel free

Head out to Alford, then over the Lecht to Grantown on Spey, then west to Aviemore and head south on the A9 to Pitlochry and back over Glenshee and along the dee valley.
Great days hooning there, I did it in the summer and it was fantastic. Just watch out for speed camera vans on the A9, they are a common sight.

here's a nice wee run out to Alford, over the Lecht, then down to Grantown on spey and over the Dava moor (watch out for bikers) then over to Elgin, back up to Dufftown, cut across to Huntly (nice wee road as well) then back by the A96.
