Caught by two plod with a hair dryer about twn minutes ago, 44 in a 30. In my dfence its on a road where its 30 for about 500 yards its all straight and u can so to the NSL zone, there is 2 houses and a restaurant so hardly a busteling village!!!!

They were hidden behing a brick garage thing and stepped out in front of me I had to brake hard just not to run them over. They said that what if they had been children stepphing out in front of me. I had to reply that children should be taught the highway code so they dont step out in front of cars.

Then tried to say but what if a car had pulled out a junction of the restaurant, so I said that wouldnt be my faulyt it would be his!!! They didnt like this.

He then asked me what his job was, appartently its not to catch innocent motorists straying over the speed limit. Its to save lives. He then tried the have you ever seen an accident zone. I said I havent because I've never had an accident.

Told him I was driving at a speed where I could stop in teh distance I could see ahead of me but apparently according toplod that is irrelevant and that you have to stick to speed limits. He said they are not pulled out of hats. I asked what if the speed limit was dropped to 30 on motorways tonight, would it be dangerous to drive at 70 all of sudden. He said thats not the point. IT BLEEDING IS ACCORDING TO YOU, ITS DANGEROUS TO GO OVER THE SPEED LIMIT, THATS WHEN CHILDREN DIE AND ACCIDENTS HAPPEN AND THE APOCOLYPSE DAWNS!!!!!

I told them I thaught it was shocking that they were position there where no-one could see them and where there are NO children and not outisde schools in my village or outside the street at myhouse where boy racers regularly go up at crazy speeds and it is BUSY VERY BUSY!

He said he does go to kelty on north road, but would you belive it North Road is a 60 with no houses and its prefectly safe to do over 60mph!!!

His deparing words to me were my attitude was a worry to society. Well I HOPE HE LOSES SLEEP WANKER!!!!!!!

I have never ever seen a mobile camera unit outside a school or deep inside a housing estate. I dont know why not, it would be easy pickings for them, and it would actually be appreciated.

Stu, gotta say they may have had a point.... just a small issue about stopping in the distance. Just 'cos it isn't your fault, doesn't mean you want to go under a truck that flies out of a side road......?

Only kidding mate, in that case I may have been ramped up to 80 leptons, and would NOT have stopped. Tee hee. No way they're gonna follow without a helicopter.

Drive safe though.

And yes - they are the same police force who 'haven't got the manpower' to follow up your house burglary when it happens, or the old lady next door being mugged....

There is a Talivan plugin point outside a school near my office.. but when does the talivan pull up? at lunchtime of course..

Did I mention that it's a primary school and the kids aren't allowed out at lunchtime?

oh, did I also mention that the talivan site is between all of the local places of work and a supermarket who advertises with talking shopping trolleys?

Now I appreciate that speeding outside schools is most definitely not the done thing, but when no children are allowed out at lunchtime and those being targeted are purely office workers on the supermarket run to pick up sandwiches, I think it's a bit out of order..

Add to that the fact that some people have been done for 32 in a 30 on this stretch..

Inappropriate speed is a bad thing, but so is inappropriate revenue generation from the motorist!!

I think its sad that the first proper interaction I have had to have with the police is through two arrogant small minded individuals who spoke to me like I was something they scraped off their shoe and that I had commited a heinous (sp?) crime.

Well the next time I see a "proper" crime being commited i will turn a blind eye to it and if the police ever ask me for a statement or ask if I was ever a witness they will be told why I am not interested in speaking to THEM!

Because oh yes it is THEM and US, and as far as Im concerned tonight that divide got whole a lot bigger.

Oh and do I have to take my licence into the station or do I send it by post. Im sure he probably told me but I had heard of enough of his lies and propaganda that I eventually switched off.

Also I didnt appreciate having that thing pointed at me when I was standing being told off I am hardly going to break the speed limit on foot am I !!!

Dunfermline, if you know it, it is the area just over the railway crossing down from the roundabout along from Asda..They were behind a wall or garage or something and I didnt see them till they stepped out in front of me.

I had just crossed the railway crossing and was heading for the NSL zone at the top of the hill.

In my experience you would have, or should have, been asked which station you wanted to take your license to and it logged. If I remember right it should be on the bottom of the ticket.

Interesting comments about not wanting to help the Police anymore. I got a nip from a mobile camera for doing 36 in a 30, funny thing was, traffic coming from the opposite direction was flashing everyone a warning, so everyone went through at just below 40 as we went past the safety van, because we all thought it was a 40 zone, but it wasnt, it was a 30. The general flow on this particular stretch of road is about 40 mph, so I guess the camera folks knew this and were there for purely cynical money raising reasons and not safety. A colleague who uses the same route also got a ticket from the same day, he too said the same thing, everyone went through at a law abiding 39 mph fully aware that the safety van was there, but they were all wrong, it was a 30 zone.

Anyways, a few days after I got my ticket, I witnessed a crime (wont go into detail, but it involved damage to property), I ordinarily would have slowed or stopped for a nosey and got some details, and passed it on to the bib for sure...but you know what? I couldnt be arsed, I was still narked about my nip. I have mellowed since and given it some thought, and if similar circumstances occured now, I would report what I knew, but at the time, nope.

Well Stu, let's hope that if something happens to you in the future (god forbid), that any potential witnesses or informants haven't got a ticket recently, eh?

You are obviuosly annoyed that youve been given 3 points and fined....thats understandable.

The point is tho that you were speeding!

You will have to produce your Driving Licence at the Police Station that you nominated at the bottom of the form.

I wasnt there so i wont comment on what was said and what wasnt said....all you can do is be more careful when driving in 30's.

Dont mean to offend but cant really say anymore.

Stuart, I know it, can't be more than 2 mins away from my house.

There's been a problem with the lax power bunch in the last few weeks racing around the town. Just over a week ago one of them planted his car though the church wall in the town center, and on sunday night one demolished a lamp post and a wall by the Dunfermline building society building; I saw the second one first hand in the early hours of monday morning when I was off to the airport (a GiB had just arrived)

So I guess plod are having a clamp down, just a bit unlucky I guess.

tbh it's a piss poor effort at catching them if that's where plod were hiding, they know the circuits the little fers are timing each other around, it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to set something up to nail a couple of them.

FWIW, I was doing mph round the rest of fife this evening on the bike and only saw one plod, towing a 30ft speed kills trailer

I often work outside schools with the school children assisting me.
A large LED board is errected with the speed of every car passing clearly displayed. If the vehicle exceeds the 30mph speed limit by up to 10mph, the driver is given a 'telling off by the children' instead of a ticket...(they decide which they want)...One bloke once opted for the ticket as he couldn't face 6 x 7year olds saying to him "Slow down or you could kill us, Mr Car Driver"...Amazing..

I'm glad you've come back to your civil senses BG. Afterall, the reason why this country is on it's arse is because people are only bothered about themselves...

I was involved recently in an area search for a rapist who struck on a busy street. He grabbed a 24year old woman and dragged her into some bushes in full view of 5 people at a bus stop. Not one person interviened!..Of the 3 people we've traced from the bus stop, one thought it was a prank and the other two (men I might add) thought the bloke looked 'hard' and didn't want to get involved...

Brilliant..... brilliant.....What has the country come to....A land fit for heroes, my arse...

We need more of this. How many Mums and Dads were caught? Mind you, they all had to stop to let the little blighters out so they'd be below the limit.

I wish they would implement and enforce 20mph limits past schools where needed. Up to now the only 20mph limit I know is on the A355 through Slough. I've followed many a Police car (Panda and Traffic) along here at 30mph (slowing myself for the 20s and realising they aren't). Sigh.

How many drivers respond with "...but it would be your fault for running into the road without looking"? Education works both ways...

That's absolutely true, but what is the intended outcome of the punishment meted out. Deterence? Rehabilitation? Etc etc.

Arguably, neither of those occurred as the line was a sort of 'speed kills' approach and in a similar situation on a similar approach said driver will drive in the same way a that's what he felt was appropriate.

All that's happened is his wallet is a few quid lighter, licence endorsed, and his attitude towards the police have changed. Funny that, I thought it was attitudes towards speeding (or inappropriate use of speed) that were supposed to change.
