70mph. Where’s the fun in that? The Atom can get to 80mph in less than three seconds. And you can help get there with a simple press on a button.

I thought it was proposed to change the limit to 80mph anyway and lower some other limits and have more 20mph limits in the inner cities.
Nothing wrong with letting them know how we feel though.

No. It's proposed that they'll talk about it, and they might get around to doing it next year.

No way will they increase the limit. More likely to decrease it, to save fuel etc.

They'll just leave it as is but the police will only enforce over 80mph, same as now.

Daily Mail sells too many papers for them to increase it.

I'm sure the government would love us all to use more fuel in order to generate even more tax revenue.

Yep this there is no fuel shortage a la 70's OPEC problems
the grubment will have no interest in lowering limits
however they don't have that much incentive to raise it either
as they prove time and again that they don't give a flying hubcap
about public opinion.

The A1 next to where I live is restricted to 50mph anyway, too busy apparently.

Saw a massive accident there the other day southbound. Those 50mph limits are working wonders.

The fact is the road is hopelessly overburdened. It carries 123,400 vehicles per day which to put that in comparison, the M25 around London was built for a capacity of 88,000 vehicles per day.

There is only one way to fix the western bypass and they know it. It needs to be upgraded to full motorway spec with 4 lanes plus a shoulder each way.

No way the Government will do anything to make us save fuel - they'll lose even more tax. If you want to save fuel, drive a bit slower.
