Spyders back up at 40k now

The cheapest cars are now 40k with no warranty(or close to running out) and services due ie. the 2 white cars for sale, and neither have PCCB either, one even has no buckets ...snigger.....

And the OPC cars are all poor speced cars for that type of car (and 43k+) and hence not sold due to the more boxster style spec.

Great news for us owners of Spyder speced cars, and for a few Boxster haters who said the cars would be 29k come summer and were nothing special.

ALso great to see 3 cars at the RS track day on Friday.

It's still one of the best cars Porsche has ever made imo, but I guess you lot would say, I would say that lol
But after owning 40+ cars it is one of the best cars I have driven/owned.

so, 42k now to get a nice one inc a Porsche warranty and service.

Joking aside I am thinking of selling the TT and the Spyder and buying a full fat Cayman R next year as running 2 cars gets expensive.
And the Cayman R does seem the perfect 1 car for all ;-)

Or 40k now to get a nice one, make your own mind up who you want to service it (when the service is actually) due and decide whether you want to be tied in with a Porsche warranty

So with buckets at £35k. Haggle a bit and under £35k. End of the year, nearer £30k for sure.

Its a newish car. It's going to depreciate. It's special for sure, but not special enough to be a limited supply car that holds it value that much better than a boxster, which is what it is.

Fair enough - but the Pistonheads ad you've linked to for the car at the Mercedes dealer isn't actually a Spyder, unless it's one of those especially rare ones with the optional electric roof fitted!

The other I tried to buy last year but he does not seem to want to sell it.
I gave up trying to buy it.

No warranty, no Stickers, needs a sevice, needs new tyres etc etc could cost some one 3.5k to get it upto OPC standards with warranty and it's at 36k already.

Unconstructive to say the least. Someone could sell it at £25k now, That's meaningless.

So we get it. Cars depreciate. I hope you do find a good one for £25k, I am sure there are lots out there that hope this to be true since spyders are quite rare. For now, I'll just enjoy mine

Why unconstructive? Sure, someone can sell one for £5 now, doesn't mean anything. My point was: the MARKET PRICE will be £25k next year. That will be the market value. Not some made up arbitrary number. That is constructive, no?

not one to get in arguement over second hand values but open top prices will firm up now the sun is shining.anyone who says the spyder is like the standard boxster s is intitled to their opinion but saying values will remain close i doubt.just take a look at the runout gen 1 987 boxster rs60/cayman sport both these cars were cosmetic specials (nowhere in the league of the spyder/cayman R) yet their secondhand values are 10% stronger than the standard 987.1s.
imho spec. is also key when selling so buckets/pse etc will always get more attention

I note 997 GT3 's like I said are not selling untill they hit 53k now.
Some of the GT3's have been for sale 8 months+.

I took a risk and thought the Spyder would drop about 4k to use it for a year, but thought a 65k GT3 could cost me 20k to run it for 1 year.

I choose the Spyder route with thoughts on the 997.2 GT3 next March.

Only cars which are over priced atm are 997.1 GT3's imo 65k for a 2006/7 car is silly money.

My office is a couple of miles from the white Auto Trader Spyder (Jeff White's in Cardiff). I first saw it probably 6 months ago when it was advertised at £38,995. It's quite clean but all the wheels are kerbed, lacks decals, needs a service NOW and not in 13K miles of and of course now out of warranty!

All that aside, I'd not personally buy from that particular trader. Well, certainly not a £40K Porsche!I think it'll be getting dusty in his showroom for a little while longer. Especially as it'll soon be overdue a service.

Great car, love mine completely. Like Mr Demon, I've owned a lot of cars but this meets my requirements perfectly. Not felt so happy with a car in a long time. As far Cayman R, one BIG problem, it's not a roadster.

Just a small note for you mate: looks like you spend most of your time on your car price spreadsheet and wish list.

Spring starts on March 21st, so technically we are still in winter, let alone summer. Come back to me on the last day of summer though, and I'll eat my words for you no problemo.

I do enjoy it, I also expect it to fall, but not to normal Boxster levels.
I think my money was safer in this than a old 997.1 GT3, but no one knows.

I am waiting for a sub 70k 997.2 GT3 then I will move over to one if not will buy a Cayman R.

Your money would have been safer in terms of depreciation in a 997.1 gt3, but it would have taken more of a battering in running costs. I think on balance it would have cost roughly a similar amount to run both cars (overall ownership costs).

My honest opinion: you bought the wrong car. You wanted a GT3. You banged on about a GT3 and prices and spec (and seats) for donkeys years. That's the car you wanted and that's what you should have bought. All you have done since buying the boxster is try to justify it from day one. No disrespect to Spyder owners, but I'm sure most of the people that bought one actually wanted one. You bought a boxster with a racey ethos/enthusiast spin to it, but its not a GT3, and never will be. Everytime you see a GT3 you will feel something inside you scream out. That will piss you off for as long as you own the Spyder.

My advice: its plain to see that your justification for the spyder makes sense, and its a great car, but its clear you're not happy. Sell it and buy a GT3 and put us all out of our misery.
