Noticed this and just cant get my head round it and more than likely some clever clogs on here will know whats giving the illusion.

When your behind a 1 series BMW, Everything in the reflection appears upside down, As opposed to just being a mirror image of your car the right way up.

So looking at the back of a 1 series, Your car and everything in the reflection is upside down??!!

Whats going on? Its just paint on metal so how is it doing this?

One of the models of Fiat Punto did it too.
You could easy get entranced watching the reflections like a video screen.

Convex surfaces reflect things the right way. Concave surfaces are the exact opposite, ergo, reflect light in the opposite direction. Simples.
