I have a couple of problems with my 97 Corolla and wondered if anyone had any suggestions as to what could be causing them?

Occasionally the car won't start, when the key is turned nothing happens - then when the key is turned again the car starts.

Over the last few days the windscreen wipers have been really slow to make progress across the windscreen

Are the two things related? If so what is the most likely cause?

I've had the battery checked this evening and all is ok.

My theory so far is either wiring loom failure or earthing problem - Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Sound like an earthing or batter problem to me, possibly alternator, but I am no expert.

Intermittent starting problems were caused by earths for my.

What voltage is the battery reading? And what voltage is there across it whilst it is on?

Above two checks will rule out the battery / Alternator for you.

What condition are the battery terminals in? Cheap fix if they're manky, and it compounded the issue for me.
