Certainly never thought of them as a girls band, not sure whether you have been to any Cure gigs or listened to all of their stuff apart from the singles. You are right about The Smiths though, never been a fan and IMO think Morrissey has lost the plot in recent years.I've seen The Cure loads of times both indoors and at festivals, agree that they aren't at their best in the open air. They always change their set for every gig but generally go for the less dark or obscure material come festie time plus you don't get the full 3 hour plus experience.
If you not a fan I'd recommend trying them out over The Maccabees, you never know you might like probably the greatest band of the last 35 years or so

I shall mostly be looking forward to Two Door Cinema Club and The Gaslight Anthem this year. Headline bands aren't what they used to be for me, I find more interest further down the bill these days. Rage Against the Machine and Metallica were the last headlines I got remotely excited about.
I'd love to go and see the Foos again, they are great live. but their concerts are too big and expensive now. When I went to Wembley, half of the congregation didn't know the f

The line up is a bit weak this year so I'll be taking my tent n Beer else wear..
I love the Foos music but they ain't a great live experience, seen em 5 times and there ok as a warm up for a headline band
Only band I would love to see that weekend is - At The Drive In - they made an amazing album then split up and now there back together but for how long
Other bands I've seen before and would definitely see again is the Gas Lamp Anthem , Billy Talent, Bombay Bicycle Club, and the Maccabees all great live bands

Billy Talent are great live though aren't they? Sadly I'm only going on the sunday.
I saw ATDI at Reading 2000 and you had to get there early they packed the tent out an hour before they went on such was the hype. I got just inside the tent and there were half as many again just standing around outside it they should have been on the main stage. Pretty amazing performance if I'm honest although the whinging about crowd surfing was got a little tiresome. Play music like that and people will crowd surf!
