Porsche drivers dont flash each other....?
Discussion
Heres a thing.
For many years, I drove an Elise. Recently swapped for a 996tt (lovin it!)...
When I was dashing around in the Lotus, if another Elise driver spotted me, we flashed and waved - kind of in a 'we are all in the same club-type thing'
911 drivers - not so much (not at all in fact). How come?
Are we too cool, or perhaps its not such an event seeing another one? (just curious).
Anyhow, if you drive a 911, and see a Lapis Blue 996tt flashing at you
Cheers Alex

I do not understand the need for flashing each other.
I've been flashed and waved at in my current and passed cars, even occassionally get it in my Misses Celica.
If I notice in time I'll raise a polite hand in response but I really don't see the point in it.
Blimey, you must have been the only one in your Mark 1 Elise not flashing. Serously, in 3 years of ownership, I never saw one who didnt flash (usually not me first).I've been flashed and waved at in my current and passed cars, even occassionally get it in my Misses Celica.

Anyway, each to their own.
Subaru drivers used to wave at each other in the nineties before they were all bought second hand by chavs and rice boys.
With Porsche it is much rarer - mind you there was a significant outbreak of waving in Chesire last Friday and Saturday, anyone near a Porsche badge was waving at anything else with tyres and an exhaust note!

The VX220 got the least but that was because other than at a track day I only ever saw one other on the road!

Ahhhh the Scooby Wave! Used to do it when i had my WRX. But it was well after the nineties! When i get my Porsche i wont mind giving a little sign of appreciation to another Porsche driver, even at 40 yrs old!!
I think with the Elise, the flash is a relieved realisation that you're not the only one daft enough to be using such a ridiculous contraption for transport. Either that, or a bit of oneupmanship...Look, there is a part of my Elise that still works. The lights flash.
Mine was yellow. Never flashed. You don't want to be using any moving parts unnecessarily in one of those.

I wave when I see another 993, but I have to be careful of spilling my pint of Old Bishop's Fart over my corduroys and onto my Jesus sandals, causing my pipe to fall out of my mouth and onto my hessian seatcovers. If it's a hairdresser in a Boxster, or a little scowling bald man in a 996 or 7, I merely give them the V-sign.
