It's time for a car change. If I keep hold of my Peugeot much longer I will start putting too many miles on it and I will lose the bargain that I bought it for.

I'm looking for a Coupe as I just prefer the lines that is:
Fast
Auto
Folding rear seats, I tend to use rear for MTB's or models (sad RC Geek).
Gadgets (heated, electric leather seats. Satnav, Park assist) etc.

The only car I can think of is a 335 but before I start searching for one, can anyone think of an option please? I like the 3 series but they are too good in that they are everywhere.

Thanks in advance.

What is your budget? That will help narrow down the choices smile

Well there's the obvious 3-series competitors - the A5 and C-class coupe in their more powerful forms.

Was the Monaro ever produced as an automatic?

Is the Nissan GTR in budget? I think its rear seats fold.

If it's the right car then I wouldn't let their 'popularity' put you off. I don't know if the back seats go down though, never had reason to try!

I have a vague feeling that folding rear seats are an optional extra? Or did I make that up?

Budget wise I have two options.

Smart option: £16,000 ish

I don't care, I want it option: £30,000ish

I couldn't do an Alfa as I owned one once and it was not an enjoyable experience.

I think they do, I was looking at 330 coupes before I ended up with my Pug and most of the cars had folding rear seats.

Do the seats fold down in a 6 series?

If so, a V8 one, for your lower budget.

monaro was manual over here, rear seats dont fold down neither.

boot is pretty big though (04 models) managed to get my mountain bike in there, just had to take the wheels and handlebars off.

You can stick coupe, automatic and your budget in to autotrader and it'll show you all the cars you can buy.

You then discount all the french ones, obviously, ignore the Mercs because thier recent build quality has been a bit french, ignore the italian ones because they used to rust 30 years ago and the dealers still premptively treat customers like they are going to be angry, then just buy a BMW. 8 series if you're brave.

http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/post...

Failing that - surely you must want a car. Why not buy the car you want? How about a 968, or a M635CSi, or a Supra, or an RX7, or an UrQuattro, or a 1986 CRX 16i16 with Mugen arches, or a matte black Capri with a V8 in it, or something.

I think recent (as in new models introduced in the last few years) Merc build quality has been very good, so it would depend on how new the OP was looking.

I am gutted that the 6 Series doesn't have folding rear seats. It would have been perfect for what I am after. Only the 6 Series GT has folding rear seats and I couldn't own that because I have eye's.

It has a pretty big boot though TBH and certainly meets all of your other requirements (you can almost pick up an M6 in budget).

TBH if loading space is that big a concern it sounds like you really like the idea of a coupe, but actually need an estate.

Does the CLS have folding seats? Might be an option?

Any reason why you cant get a bike rack?

For that budget I'd be looking at a 928 or 944 Turbo plus a couple of new mountain bikes. Remember the ideal number of mountain bikes is N+1, where N is the number of bikes you've currently got.

I think they are standard on the coupe and optional on the saloon?

It's a good bet - nice handling, well made, looks good. Yes they are popular but mostly in four pot form. Not a huge amount around with a proper engine.

2005 - on Mustang GT - LHD only though
I've had mine 6 years and only just found out the rear seats fold down!
You won't see many others round either.
This is the 2010 model bu they're largely the same.
