Intensive/residential driving courses
Discussion
Hi all - a friend of mine is a very VERY reluctant potential driver, she's one of these who's scared to fail tests (and even more scared of wasting lesson money!!) but gets ultra nervous before the driving test (she actually cancelled her last test on the morning due to nerves!!).
She's come round to accepting there are some advantages to driving and thought that the best way to resolve her 'test nerves' would be to go on a residential/intensive driving course (week long focused on driving and a 'guaranteed' pass at the end).
The qestion is has anyone had experience of these (either positive or negative!) that they could share?
thanks

Guaranteed pass , I like
yeah - I gotta admit that I too enjoyed that piece of optimism!!!
I too had considered the 'not cut out for driving as well but (by all accounts) during a lesson she's fine it's just the thought of the test - not even going out on her own but the whole "I really hope I haven't wasted my time (however many months with one lesson a week)" and then the nerves kick in. She'll never be an enthusiastic driver but has (very belatedly!) come around to the viewpoint that this horseless-carriage thing may not be such a bad thin after all
Is she like this with all tests, or exclusively this one?
Because if the driving test in particular is causing her this level of problems and she's not a 17-year-old, then she probably isn't cut out for it. If she's this nervous about driving a bloke with dual controls around for forty minutes, how's she gonna be if she passes and it's dark? Or rains a bit? Or there's a bit of mist?
If she's like this with all tests then she needs a proper talking to about the level of her ability and the reasonable expectations of her, how much better she could really be if she allowed herself not to be so worried about everything, and all that.. Or a damn good kicking, you choose.
