I was waiting in a queue of traffic behind a bus and the BMW driver in front decided to reverse into my front bumper and pretty much admitted liability at the scene.
The car is a MGF and I am on third part fire and theft. The car bonnet is creased and driver lamp smashed and bumper pushed in. The car still runs but is not really safe.
I told the insurance who put me on to a accident management company after the personnel injury hard sell, etc as i need a car for work and money is pretty tight.
As I have a conviction for Drink driving from 2008 they won't cover me on their insurance and my insurance won't too. Fair enough. Just wondered if their was any other options out there.
Now I am not sure what to do, I could probably bodge the car, or buy another but have the issue of high insurance costs. All I want is a way to get back to work and back.

bus then 2 cars, then bmw then me.
The bmw reversed as a car was on the other side of road parked up, so as to allow the on-coming traffic to move. He literally put into reverse didn't look in mirrors and mounted my car I was about 2 metres back from him.
Just looking for options for a replacement car, they car is a write off really.

Im going to suggest an MX-5 before anybody else does but do you have any specific requirements/budget?
Would the insurance company transfer the policy over to a new car. I have 5 years no claims non protected so at this point they are invalid. I would have preffered the driver to give me a few hundred quid and I would sort it myself but he wanted to go through insurance.Edited by billybob69 on Tuesday 13th March 14:38

I don't understand this line. Who won't cover you on who's insurance? If the 3rd party has admitted liability and you're insured 3rd party F+T then what's the problem?
You have a policy with very specific terms, it should tell you all you need in there if not speak to your insurer.
Insurance company's can have several different policies/terms so its a very specific question that will not get answered on here. Your only option is to speak to your insurer and ask them.

Are you saying the BMW driver's insurance won't pay out, neither will yours because you didn't declare a drink driving offense in 2008?podwin said:

I think he's saying that neither his own nor the accident management company/rental company's insurance will cover him on a hire car, which would be part of the service pushed by the AMC along with a personal injury/whiplash claim.EDIT: Beaten to it.

I think he never said anything about not declaring it. EDIT: Beaten to it.
Maybe we need to wait for the OP to sober up and explain everything in a little more detail.

very funny, you must be a right laugh.I was a bit nieve in thinking that the AMC help you in no fault claims, in an efficient lowest cost way, instead of hard selling whiplash claims to you over the phone.
I went through to a AMC company, who advised they would sort a replacement car out and collect my car. The problem was the hire car company won't insure me due to the DR10 and want me to pay. The claim management company (I thought there was only 1 involved but when you ring to claim you don't speak to the insurer) won't cover the insurance, so I am therefore without a car unless I hire a car ,myself, buy another or get the bus. I wouldn't mind too much but live in the sticks and need a car to get around.
Bonnet bumper wing works out around 250 pound plus fitting etc, the car is only worth 800 quid.
Could I just fix it myself it doesn't look structural?

Just get the 3rd party's insurer to fix your car quickly. Surely they/you can get it fixed in a week. It'll probably take you longer than that to source a new car.
I spoke to the insurers/claim management and the letter of liability has been sent. I can see them writing it off, so may as well get another car.Normally if your car is a write off and your insurance company pays out then they say that is the end of the insurance agreement with them. The scrap vehicle now belongs to them and you no longer need the insurance policy since they have settled the claim.
In your case, if the other party agrees liability and settlement comes from the other party's insurance then you no longer need insurance for your car. Because you do not have a replacement car to continue your insurance policy then they will end the policy and refund any amounts repayable after their admin charges for early cancellation. Even if you did have a replacement car they would requote a new insurance policy just like starting from a fresh quote.
If the other party admits liability then you may be able to get a reasonably priced hire car and claim for that as well from the other party. Considering what car you were driving before it would be safer to find the cheapest thing you could hire.
Because you have TPF&T only, insurance company's tend to treat you as second class citizen and provide less service for you. This means you could be out of pocket while having to wait for a claim to reimburse you from the other party. The risk is if the other party changes their mind about liability and the whole thing gets ugly and you end up with going to court, you could be out of pocket for a long time.
Do you have legal cover? A lot of the hassle mentioned above is reduced if you do - but you would still be out of pocket for a while.
