Hi all,
Long time user, never really get round to posting that much. After a very old what car thread and a bit of a change of budget I have recently purchased a Seat Ibiza (Formula sport, If anyone's interested) I absolutely love the thing as its a huge step up from my previous Lupo. Ill set up a readers rides thread when I have time later on.
So after spending a fair few hours on Sunday cleaning and polishing the thing to within an inch of its life a bloody bird decided to drop a small pebble or something onto the windscreen leaving me with a small chip (about 3-5mm. Its right in my line of sight as well. So I call up the friendly people at Admiral and they quote me £20 - £30 depending on how badly the screen is damaged (£20 for the repair, £30 for a replacement) via the glass cover on the multi car policy I use. The company they use are national windscreens and they are coming out on Thursday morning to asses and repair the damage. Id just like to know if anybody has used the service and the quality of repair I should expect. Like I say the chip is right in my line of sight so id ideally like it to be 100% invisible. Would anyone recommend insisting on a replacement rather than a repair?
Thanks a lot and my apologies for the lengthy post.

They fitted a new windscreen in the Q7 last November - no issues at all, seemed like a professional outfit - you'll not need a full replacement if its just a chip, that would be overkill

I used to be a regional manager for National a few years ago and spent around 15 years in the trade with National and Autoglass. Both companies ethos was dedicated to putting the customer first and standards were a big thing, BUT the (Autoglass) advert is a bit misleading. Don't expect the chip to disappear - it won't - if you get it around 80% better than it originally was you should be happy.

I guess with a lot of these big outfits it boils down to the individual you deal with on the day.

If its any help though I had National Widscreens swap a screen for me last year via the insurance and the chap was really very very good. Took his time, was very professional and made sure it was all done properly, he honestly couldn't have done any more and I was very happy indeed with the overall process.

Thanks for the replies. They seemed very helpful on the phone and I was wondering about how good the repair would be. The only reason I was even considering a replacement was due to the chip being right in front of me. Just a very annoying place for it to be.
Hopefully It all comes good.

Does anybody know how I pay as its being done via insurance. (I forgot to ask) Do I pay straight to the technician, or does the cost come out from a bill to the insurance company?

Sorry about all the questions, nobody I know has had any dealings with this sort of thing and I'm a bit of a newbie to it myself.
