Summer's coming, I want a cheap ragtop - GO!
Discussion
I mean REALLY cheap. £650 max.
I'd prefer it to have 4 seats and be as economical as possible, so no MX5 (plus I've already had one)
Current contenders are the Pug 306 1.8 and Escort Cab.
Most Escrotes are mk5/6, Which I'd live with, but prefer the boxier look of the Mk3/4. There's a really nice green Mk3 but it's nearly 200 miles away. The 306 is lovely and it looks like not too thirsty.
Any other recommendations?
Rover 200?
Are SAABs too heavy on juice?

Audi 80 Cabriolet. Seem to have been forgotten hence all cheap!
Was going to say this, or a Mk3 Golfhttp://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2012...
The Pug 306 looks nice, drives well for a front drive, & the hood is pretty water tight.
Problem is that hood is a mechanical nightmare, goes wrong often, & is very expensive to have fixed professionally. My daughter just got a quote of $2000 to fix hers.
Unless you are an expert, if you want a cheep old convertible, get one with a simple manual hood, or one that is easily worked manually, WHEN the power gear goes wrong.

Why do you want to buy a structurally compromised car that looks like a pram? Especially the revolting Escort which has the dynamics of a turd before the roof gets chopped off. Awful cars.
It's clichéd on here but look around for an older MX5, usable ones do come up for this price quite often and you are buying a car that was designed to be a convertible, and looks the part rather than a mediocre hatchback missing it's roof. If you really need to have 4 seats then the BMW is probably the better choice.

Mt Immediate thoughts were Range Rover Classic/Land Rover/Renault Espace and unbolt the roof, but....
Saab can be heavy on juice, but again a good call!
Anyway, [url]here is my serious suggestion

Rover would be a good call if you can find a decent one, but they do suffer if they miss out on maintenance & servicing!I'd prefer it to have 4 seats and be as economical as possible
