Hi,

On my Astra the MFD had some missing pixels, I sent it off to be repaired by a company that I found on Google, paid via my credit card over the phone(always use credit card for stuff like this) roll forward a month and after several attempts the repair and quests to find parts for the MFD they cannot repair it.

Finally get the refund paid back onto my card, they tell me the MFD has being returned to me but it has not landed back with me, they cannot supply me with a tracking number and are taking it up with the post office as to where my MFD is.

I'm getting annoyed by now as this has being going on over a month now, although I have my refund I am still missing my MFD, after speaking to Vauxhall there about £260 - how do I go about charging this company to replace the lost unit?

Or am I pissing in the wind?

Thanks

Nick

You wont get the cost of a new one back as it was unrepairable and as such worth as much as a faulty one (circa 30)

Is this the original one that you tried to replace with the other faulty one you bought?

Yes this is the original one that i sent away to be fixed, then i got the other one to replace this one as the hole in my dash was annoying me.

Going to speak to them today about it, will update later.

I have spoke to the earlier this week and they say they are waiting for royal mail to come back to them, this could take 28 days apparently. I am in no rush so lets see what they come up with then.

Right,

Update time, i will be sending this email and posting this off to them in the morning, just checking that its ok and makes my point nice and clear:

Hi ******,

I’m *********, I have being speaking to you over a period of months now about my Astra MFD I sent to you, you could not fix it then it got lost. I have tried to call your office several times with no answer recently, I still don’t have my MFD back and I have not heard from you at all even though you did say you were going to call me on several occasions.

I know you have put in a claim with Royal Mail for the lost item, I originally sent you the MFD on the 8th of February so I think I have every right to be annoyed about the time that this is taking to be sorted.

I would like you to replace the lost MFD or compensate me to the cost of a new one from Vauxhall, if you do not do this I will be putting in a claim with money claim online to recover the cost of the lost part back from yourselves.

I will be posting you a copy of this email and you will have 7 days to reply to it before I start the money claim.

I hope it does not have to go that far.

Thanks

I'd throttle the annoyance back a little, as you may be expected to show the letter as part of the claim. Pop in lots of "been more than patient", "multiple phone calls and emails" type of things.
As stated above, not sure on your right to expect a new MFD from Vauxhall, given the lost unit was not repairable. How much is a reconditioned unit on ebay (that's actually working smile ) going for at the moment?

They go for £100+ in a working condition without missing pixel's.

That seems to be a more reasonable request, and more likely to get a positive response from them. The lack of a tracking number probably means that the item was not insured beyond the £50 that RM offer as a a baseline, so they will be dipping into their pockets to replace it, and then only as a customer service thing. You're more likely to get them to dip for sixty odd quid than nearly two hundred, IYSWIM.

Good luck, anyway.
