Doing this Friday, 1hr 30mins in Singapore, leave LHR 2030, arrive MEL 0630 Sunday.

If anyone does this regularly do i try and sleep on the LHR SIN leg, or SIN to MEL?

Tks

Sleep when you can and are tired. When you get to Aus get out in the daylight into green parks or the beack this will reset your body clock.

I do SIN-MEL twice a month, it sucks and is not a good flight to sleep on.

You leave Singapore late evening, first 2 hours are spent faffing around serving drinks and food, then they turn the lights out for 2 hours, then turn them on again for the final couple of hours for breakfast. Realistically you can only get 2-3 hours sleep if that.

Horrible flight times, I'd try and get some shut eye on both.

I did Heathrow to Sydney via Singapore weekend before last. First leg is about 12 hours, second leg is about 7 hours and we were in Singapore for about an hour. Departeed Heathrow at 11am, so had meal etc watched movie then slept when they put the lights out. Arrived in Singapore at 8am their time, departed 9am then stayed awake for the next leg, despite them doing a meal service then going to "lights out" mode. Stayed awake all through the flight and arrived in Sydney at 8pm Got to the hotel, got to bed at proper bedtime, woke up the next day right as rain no jetlag.

stay as late as you can, sleep second half of uk / SG flight (it is nearly 13 hours) then go for a shower / swim at Changi - then try and set your body clock for Aus time.

Its a bd trip though!

As mentioned get out in the sun as soon as you arrive, this will help reset the body clock!

If you didn't already know, the Melbourne Grand Prix is on this Sunday, quite a cool day forecast, about 22 degrees, but that may feel warm coming from the UK.

Foxtickets is a good source for Melbourne GP tickets if you are interested, though there may not be many grandstand seats available now.

We're going Saturday and Sunday, can't wait. rotate

When I flew LHR - HKG then HKG to SYD, I dozed for a while on the 12 hour first leg, and then tried to sleep a short night on the overnight into Sydney. Was about a 9 hour flight and I managed 6 hours proper kip, woke up for breakfast before landing and then stayed up all day in Sydney.

No jetlag :-)

Did London-hong kong-Auckland about 18 months go with a six hour stopover in HK Sleep when you're tired, as soon as we land some 30 hours later headed off to harbour for a 3 hour cruise, as mentioned before trick is to adjust to new time zone not try and stay on uk time.

I used to do this trip every 3 weeks (albeit to Sydney) on business and it gets a little wearing after a while. I would alway aim to sleep on the first leg, get to Changi, have a beer in Harry's bar in T2, then go to the pay lounge in T2 and take a quick shower, then as soon as that was done, set my body clock to Australia time and either doze or watch a couple of movies on the second leg.

To be honest, I never really felt that battered when I arrived at Sydney. The only downside was my flight always got me into Kingsford-Smith at 0800 local on a Friday, so had to battle through the Sydney rush hour traffic to get to the Marriott on Circular Quay. I'd always check in, drop my bags off & see Rocky in the spa, who would sort me out with a sauna followed my a massage (by one of the girls). By then it would be around lunchtime, so I'd chill for a few hours in the afternoon, before meeting up with some friends at Opera Bar for sundowners and a catch up before the night generally got very messy!

I'd always wake up on Saturday morning with a pretty solid hangover, but no hint of jet leg :

Despite the travel being a right PITA after doing it for a year or so, having been out of it for nearly a year, I actually quite miss it now

Tried to sleep on the HKG / MEL leg when I did this last Sept. Didn't work so took a nap in the hotel room from 7:45 to 11ish. But then I arrived on the Sunday.
