Any Cerb owners in East Midlands - A Favour?

A brief background...

I have been longing for a V8 Cerb for a few years (YouTube/old Top Gear...) and have now found myself in the position of being able to run a second car.

I have lurked on here for a couple of years, reading, waiting, learning, about every TVR model etc. and get the impression that the sensible thing would be to run a Chim for a year or two to get used to their foibles. However, as I'm probably only going to run a TVR for a couple of years, before it will have to be a house deposit, sensible might not really come into it!

Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I went to see the red Chim at Track v Road (I'd never even sat in Chim, let alone a Cerb) as it looked like a possible option, to make sure that I could fit (6'3", but long-ish legged), see how big the boot is etc. I spent many hours there (until well after closing time!) looking at the Chim, and an Elise they've got in (Hmm, another option!), and they were really helpful. Also, I ran into Pigpen, who was visiting and he offered me a run in his bright yellow Chim 500. I now know I NEED a TVR, thanks Mike! However, I have now sat in a Cerb, but have never heard one start from cold, or had a ride in one (you can see where this is going...).

I went to the CobWeb run, hoping to find a friendly owner, but didn't get chance to ask anyone about it (arrived a bit too late and spent ages taking photos), although I did see some fantastic cars.

SO, are there any friendly Cerb owners in the East Midlands, who would let me have a closer look at their P&J and maybe take me out for a run in it (of course for the requisite beer vouchers/petrol money).

Roughly halfway between Derby and Nottingham, so I had planned to go to Chatsworth, even if I'd not found a TVR by then.

Gazzab, I think I've seen your car, when I was following my SatNav through some small villages (hamlets?) up Derbyshire way? Is it Silver, with headlight conversion?

I can also give you my take on the Cerb when comparing to a Chim etc.

Also James Agger who is also close by can give you the low down and he also has a sp6 in stock I think.

Hi - its grey rather than silver and is a late model with the faired in 'Tuscan' style lights. But it could have been me albeit there are one or two light blue and silver silver cars nearby. I am near baslow and bakewell area so you might have spotted me! If you do want a ride then by all means drop me a pm. But it looks like I'm quite far from you.

You need to get to the East Midlands TVR car club meet on the second Sunday of April at the Unicorns Head in Langar - i know of 2 blue Cerbs that will likely be there, a Speed 6 and a 4.5

Between 15 and 30 depending on the time of the year, once the EM members see this thread you'll be well away, it's quite an "active" region

Just to round off this thread, Thanks for all the offers, in the end I went to see Tang Soo Tim's Cerb.

It's an incredible car (both Tim's, even with the niggles he's now found , and Cerberas in general), but, after a lot of thinking, I will have to be slightly sensible and go for a Chimaera as an introduction to TVRs - It was too easy to get to the legal limit and then felt (as a passenger) that full throttle for a couple of seconds, even from 60-65, would get you locked up! This is totally different to anything I've ever driven, so would probably see me up before a (or in a hedge bottom).

Also, I've only got a small amount of RWD experience, so hopefully a Chimaera may be easier to gain experience with?

Anyway, should be going to Chatsworth tomorrow (only about 20-30 miles away, so no excuse really!), so hopefully see some of you there?
