Having seen the thread about tinted windows, I conclude that if I close the curtains on my house, then Plod will be knocking on my door soon as I must be a bad guy?

Is this true, BiB's???!

Don't forget,t here maybe dodgy people in my house, doing drugs / drinking, or all manner of things.

What gives you the *right* to ASSUME tinted windows on cars are bad???????

Its what i said i think mate, a bit of prejudice and presumption that cos they cant see who's in the car, it MUST somehow be worthy of a pull, even on the offchance.
Not that theyd find anything or anyone interesting behind the darkened glass on my car
We are entitled to our privacy after all, arent we?

I preume your home is your castle. If you chose to live like a mushroom, then that is up to you. If Police become suspicious that you might be doing 'naughty stuff' (wrists etc being the exception if they are your own wrists operating your own equipment ) behind your curtains, you may well get a loud knock at the door circa 0600 hours!

Most homes are incapable of being moved around to facilitate the robbing of others homes etc

I was thinking exactly the same thing!

What about net curtains? It's not easy to see into a house through them. You never know what foul deeds may be taking place inside! Better get the bib to have a look around just in case. To quote a recent posting "...if you've got nothing to hide, what's the problem?..."

Beards! Might be a disguise!

Hats wide wide brims - mmmm, could be a bit dodgy - trying to hide something.

I'd do a search if they have a beard, obviously got something to hide those beardies.

Well a major problem is people with firearms that Policemen/women cannot see.

very good!
no seriously, I'm just objecting to being put in the same category as certain dodgy types simply because of a vehicular feature. I pay my dues, and don't see why I should be singled out 'cos of something a copper doesn't like (although it is not illegal).

Well you will be and that's that...

If it's me, I'll be polite and have a laugh with you at the same time (if possible)...

There are just some things you can't get away from...

Perhaps we should get pulled unless we walk around naked and without any bags. Otherwise we might be concealing a lethal weapon.

Mind you, I suppose we still could be, but a quick draw might be kind of difficult.

The Dutch keep their windows with curtains drawn to show to the rest of the world that they have nothing to hide. Personally the house is warmer in winter with curtains drawn.

I've never said they are 'bad' unless they fail a 'tintman' test.
As for being suspicious of the people who drive about with tinted windows...What gives us the right? Holding the office of 'Constable' gives us the right. The right to enforce and act upon the guidelines and laws of this country, which of course include Section 163 of the Road Traffic Act 1988;

163.—(1) A person driving a motor vehicle on a road must stop the vehicle on being required to do so by a constable in uniform.

If a person fails to comply with this section he is guilty of an offence.
