Hello all!

The search function was down and google let me down as well.

I've been painting the outriggers and fixing some rust on the chassis on the Griff this winter. And I removed the calipers and discs to be able to cover everything with the brush. The thing is, when I was about to mount the caliper back on yesterday I noticed the distance washers were missing. Does anyone know the size of these, how thick should they be?

Feels like the brakes are a rather essential part I'd rather not be without the first drive of the year driving

I lost a bolt and spacer out on the road once. I asked on here and the consensus was I could replace the spacer with washers.

Attach the caliper with the bolts and centre it over the rotor so you can guess at the washer sizes. Then experiment a little.
Once you have the washers the correct size you could always take a set to a local engineer and have him make you a spacer.

Fit the calliper without the pads, measure the gap between the calliper and the disk on both sides. Split the difference and that's the size of your washer, I think!!

That's how I did mine and had no problems

Mount caliper and measure both sides of disk to both caliper faces. The measurement shoud be the same both sides,IE centre.Rotate the disks a few times and double check. This makes sure both pads hit disk at the same time :DThis will give you the correct shim needed, you dont always need to shim em.

Thanks for all the replies! Had the first run of the year yesterday. I'm pretty certain my smile was wide enough to be seen from the moon biggrin

I just simply took three washers and tried fitting it, and the distance was near perfect. And it seemed to break even on both sides, so I guess that problem is out of the way! woohoo
