MOT Question - Smashed Indicator
Discussion
As you might know, some one hit my car whilst it was parked and cracked the bumper and smashed the indicator.
I stupidly forgot* my MOT was due soon (and I've had to book it in for tomorrow!), and I'm abit worried about the indicator.
I found a large bit of glass in the indicator and araldited it back on for a temporary measure, it looks ok and the indicator works fine and is the right colour... however you could say having exposed broken glass on the front is dangerous and I'm worried it'll fail.
I've got a new bumper in the post, but I'm just worried that it'll fail on this - IF it's a fail, is there any sort of temporary bodge that would allow it to pass? (tape etc).
My garage would be more than happy to retest it up to 10 days later for free BUT it's finding the time to fit the new bumper, and thats also assuming it turns up promptly / not broken etc.

- my calendar is meant to send me an email 6 weeks before my MOT, Tax & Insurance is due amongst other things. But I set the MOT reminder to 6 MINUTES rather than weeks, so it's due in 2 weeks time and I've got a really busy week next week

I'd be worried about the sharp edges causing a fail, and would put some clear waterproof tape across it if I couldn't replace it before the test.
Unfortunately I do not have any "clear waterproof tape" nor do I have any time to get any... would sellotape work, as a temporary measure?(bumper not here yet so nothing to replace it with).
Sellotape ain't great but it'd probably do the job until your bumper arrives and it doesn't get wet. As long as the indicator still functions and the light is visible and orange I *think* you'll be ok, not critical on the lens for light pattern like a headlight lens. Depends if you get a real jobsworth tester I guess, you might get an advisory for it.
One of my cars has passed the MOT with a cracked headlight for 2 years now. I don't believe that indicator will be a problem. Sellotape over the edges would be a good idea just in case- it's amazing how far a bit of tape gets you in an MOT! Your cracked bumper is not an issue either.
