Found this.
Some of the young people out there might think that this was eons ago but I promise it was actually only yesterday.
Anyone want to hazard a guess as to the year?

Well there's a guy in a Rothmans jacket and they started sponsoring the works Porsche team in 82. So I'm going to roll on a year and say 1983.

OK, well the 205 CTI was launched in '85. Silk Cut sponsored TWR Jaguar in Europe for the WSCC, that programme kicked off with the XJR-6 halfway through the '85 season, so probably not at Le Mans.

So it won't be any earlier than '86, but that's already been said, so I'll go for '87 - the year before Jaguar's big win.

Mind you, that looks like Derek Warwick on the right and he only drove for Jaguar in '86 IIRC.

Or was this the last year they allowed bald gezzers in shades to view the race in public?

1986.

1986.

Garage board in background - 78 & 79 Ecosse.

Quick check of entry list confirms.

I'll now elaborate on why (didn't want to spoil it earlier)

- pits were demolished in 1990, so has to pre-date that;
- there was no evidence of the Dunlop chicane, which was put in, I think, in 1987; and
- the Ecurie Ecosse cars bearing numbers 78 and 79 (you can just make out the team name and numbers) ran in the 1986 race (OK, I looked that up wink ).
