Gunna take the drivers seat out this weekend to get the leather piping repaired any suggestions for raising the drivers seat up about an inch so i can see over the steering wheel. I thought about fibreglassing some spacers in but when I think about it I don't need to fiberglass them in do i. The 4 bolts should suffice. Or am I overlooking something as I haven't had a propper look yet?

I installed these they are gal gate washers, get them from b&q i glued them on with sicaflex because the fiberglass was stressed around the holes which ment it would fail it blus slip (MOT)
you could put 1 under the floor and say 5 between the floor and seat rail that should give you a 25mm raise 1"....
hope this helps

Many years ago I used to have a Merc and the seat was too low for the Mrs. and she used to use extra cushions to drive, so I took the seat out which was held by four bolts and got hold of four blocks of wood an inch thick and drilled holed through them acting as spacers. Then using longer bolts I put the seat back. This raised the seat by one inch and did the trick. Also check that the seat cushion itself hasn't sunk as the padding may gave worn out making the seating position lower, in which case the bottom seat cushion supports or padding or both have to be replaced. These days though insurance companies are fussy about such changes so check with them before you do anything or at least take them out if you ever sell the car which is what I did.

Early Tasmins came with TVRs own patent seat-raising devices... lengths of inch-square wood painted black, installed between the seat runners and the floor.

Sorry mate..Couldnt resist it..I have noticed that since fitting the nissan seats in mine that im around 2" higher, When it rains i have to duck down a bit to see through the clear bit..I guess i should get a slightly larger wiper!!..Not sure how to resolve your issue though..If the seat is coming out what about some blocks of flat bar as spacers..Drilled and fitted in between the rails of the seat?..Or something like 4 pieces of steel round bar 1.5" OD cut to 1" length and drilled down like chunky washers/Spacers to raise the seat up..Ziga

Iv got some polypenco from work which is really hardwearing nylon i was just wondering as i havnt got the seat out yet do the runners come out with the seat as a oner if yes is there some way i could place inch blocks between the floor and the seat or will the runners bend if they are bolted but perched between the blocks. Like i said i havent seen the setup dof the base of the seats so im guessing here!!! piccys of the bottom of the seat and runners would be helpfull. Or i could just go and get the seats out for myself when i get more than 3 minutes free time a week!!!

Jeff, the floor will fold up long before those runners bend!

The runners look pretty much like these, modified from a Maestro to fit my Esprit (and did the same for my Tasmin)...

Cheers for that Ian. So basically what your saying is the runners and the floor wont give up on me with the four blocks used as 1 "spacers at each bolt hole and i should be ok. Or will i need a pair of pants with a metal a**e in them ??? Im always too carefull about stuff like this and never trust my own judgement. So is it a y or n Ian?

Jeffy boy,i would put the whole poly strip down same length as seat runner's so that the full sliding rail will sit flat, then just bore holes to suit and put longer bolts in then it's honky bory, ya fat bastid, lol.

cheers jonny.
