Evo VI or VII?
Discussion
In the position to buy one now.
Which would you go for?
In my eyes the VI is the classic Evo, looks better than the 7 but is obviosuly slightly older.
However I've been offered a VII at very good money, seems well looked after and in good condition.
Understand the VII isn't probabaly as harsh as the VI and is slightly newer so possibly a little "nicer"
So which should I go for?

Is the VII modified?
The engine doesn't appear to be as strong as the VIII and IX, so any serious boost increase should really have some engine upgrades too. That's not to say it's going to explode after 5 minutes though! If it's fairly standard it will be fine.
If the deal's a good one and the car runs well than I'd take the VII. The prices sellers want for VIs are bit over inflated IMO

Depends mate on what look you prefer.
The 6 in my eyes will always be the best looking EVO ever produced. However they are getting on in age now, like the 7 also and can end up a right money pit!
As your man says, 6s are still holding value well for a good one, were the 7s have really dropped in price. If i could get a good low mileage car, it would be the 6 everyday.
I had a 6 for a short period, not cheap to run or maintain, but superb fun and exceptionally quick on B roads.

VII is very slightly modified, fuel pump couple of other bits and bobs but nothing to worry the internals.
I far and away prefer the looks of the VI but the VII is a good price and i'm slightly swayed by the extra comfort from it as this will be a daily driver along with everything else.
