Managed to work things so that I've got a couple of days after Le Mans to have a bit of a run on the way to meeting up with the missus in Italy.

I'll leave after the race and blat down to Millau and from there I have 2 days to get to Pisa. Problem is I'm not so familiar with that part of France.

Any suggestions? Rough idea was to go Millau to the start of Route Napoleon on day 1. RN down through Monaco, Ventimiglia, Genova to get to Pisa on day 2. I can hop on and off the autostrada from Ventimiglia depending on how I'm doing for time.

Any suggestions of places to stay? Not looking for 5 star as it's just a bed for the night but comfortable at least.

Cheers

According to ViaMichelin it's a 13h drive, so if you're intending to drive the whole of the Route Napoleon I would suggest saying south of Grenoble. Plenty of O.K. hotels on the N85.

Hi Jock
if you want to go to Pisa just leave the highway at Sestri Levante (roughly 30 km after Genova), follow the blue indications to La Spezia and go through Passo del Bracco until you reach Carrodano where you get into autostrada again. Passo del Bracco delivers fantastic bends, beautiful views, no traffic and no speed cameras.
Many bikers and some police during week end time only.
If reaching Pisa is not so necessary, all the coast villages from Levanto to La Spezia - the area is called Cinque Terre - are worth a visit.
