The 20 quid iPad F1 app

So who's bought the official Soft Pauer F1 app, and especially to those that used it for this morning's live practice sessions, is it working ok an generally worth it? I really liked having live timing on the iPad last year but now Bernie's stopped releasing the basic free iPhone timing app and the "free" version of this app is nothing more than a demo of the paid app, this looks like the only option other than an html5 website I found last year which worked well, but it didn't work when I tried it this morning and the site in general (http://formula1livetiming.com) hasn't been updated for a while so I'm wondering whether that will work at all this year.
Also is the 20 fee just for the year or do you get the update to 2013 etc next year without more outlay? The description isn't clear (perhaps intentionally) but in the free app it says the paid version is a "championship pass" (hence the CP name), suggesting its only access for a year?
If its a great app I'll probaby get it but its damn expensive for an iDevice app especially if it's only for a year, and the fact the purported "live timing" free app has no functionality at all other than to try and make you buy the full version or pay for in-app upgrades puts me off a little.

Yeh I did have a play with that which i forgot to mention, it wasn't ideal though as it was about 30 seconds behind the coverage being a video feed, and I'd like something to also use on my iPhone to follow practice if not watching and if say I'm at the in-laws on a Sunday afternoon.
Relatively* expensive, a little unreliable and it's only for the year. Saying that though it's handy to use on recorded broadcasts and when it's working it's very good. I think I gave it 3 stars last year.
I've bought it again this year but saved over 20% by purchasing my iTunes vouchers from eBay.
Expensive compared to anything else in the app store/marketplace, but less than a quid a race, which is what, less than a cup of coffee or bottle of coke!

I have it on Android and it's pretty ugly looking. Probably cos it's meant for small screens and I'm running it on the Touchpad. Radio5 and a web link for me - the FIA.com timing links give me enough info.

Same here on all counts. Been watching F1 for 30+ years but losing interest fast in the face of the recent developments.For the price of a Sky package I don't want, I'll treat myself to an extra trackday and more time with the kids this year

I think the F! app is excellent, it's probably not worth 20 though.
SKY has track positions and live timing etc online but it's all delayed. The F1 app is still by far the best way to follow positions and timing. FIA show the timing screen on their website but for me the F1 app is best.
I either get it before the season starts or nearer the end when it's reduced.
