Of ALL the great cars to utilise the V8 they choose a bucket of Sh*t Rover/Leyland......Then Clarkson having purchased the re-vamped GT40 has to kiss arse and s**k dick to ford as a thank you. It was an item about the ROVER V8, not a specific TVR item so why not use a Rover to demonstrate it. Remember the TVR's were only there to show the variations of cars which have used the engine.

My feelings exactly - what a let down. I've nothing against SD1s but to say it's the best car ever to have the RV8 fitted is, well frankly boll**ks.

Very dissappointed with TG. A fleeting mention of TVRs, and hardly in shot at all. Poor!

in my own inimitable fashion,my point ,was that apart from extolling the virtues of the many varieties of make that the RV8 graced they could have elaborated on the genesis of power/torque production and consequently the immense leaps and bounds in output such as the TVR/Marcos models along with which came an EVER EVOLUTIONARY Aural soundtrack that could have been bottled and sold for many a year to come
instead the poisoned dwarf was illustrated in a 'look at what a crap driver i am stylie' along with an overlong piece of an old SD1 accompanied by the phrase 'what a great sound that is!' which could have been taken up by snippets of CATERHAM/TR8/MARCOS/TVR/RANGIE ETC ETC which IMHO would have been far more interesting and relevant to the engines timeline and history.

Maybe some people think that the summit of RV8 development came with these models (those and & the Marcos models)& maybe warranted more than a micro-second mention?????????????????

Over the years having owned a Rover P6 3500, a Marcos, an Chimaera, all with the fabulous Buick/Rover V8 lump, it has always been one of my favourite engines - in fact got a spare one in the garage just in case I come across something else that is worthy of it.

I didn't see Top Gear but I thought it was bks also

It wasn't an SD1 feature either - it was supposed to be a RV8 trubute so why not focus on it's attributes like, power, torque and sound track.

I bought a feckin new suround sound telly on Saturday and I was looking forward to hearing various Rover V8 power motas and all I got was that stooopit short arse twonk squeaking on about how he was a crap driver

I must agree with ARSE! FECK and GURLS any topic must conclude with the ultimate version of said topic ie the RV8 in a dragster or a production car delivering the ultimate performance.
What a waste! the SD1 was a fine design but the fact that you could glue the dash on whatever side you wanted had sweet fanny adams to do with the bloody engine

It was a piece on the Rover V8, but to claim it's best application was in the SD1 is a little odd. Evo ran with an article I enjoyed far more about the death of the RV8 a month or so ago, and despite the fact they aren't the biggest TVR fans concluded that the best home for it was..... the Griffith !

Then again, I could be biased....

Dunno why anyone watches top gear any more anyway. GC's a classic at times, but he vanishes up his own orifice at others. The mysogeny is cringe making - yet my missus likes it cos she finds it funny. For me, it is to real motoring what misbehaving travelling footy fans are to footy - about as relevant as what top of the pops is to british hard rock.
