Whats the best way to bed in new pads? Does having monster sized drilled and groved discs make any difference on the bedding in procedure?

I think it depends on what sort of pads & disks you have. A few years back I had Mintex 1155 pads & drilled disks on a car & was recommended to run the car up to about 60 then stamp on the brakes bringing the car to a stop. Repeat about 4 or 5 times & there should be smoke coming off the pads & the disks will be hot enough to light a fag. After this, the disks & pads were bedded in & you could use as normal.

Always seemed to work for mesmile

A friend of mine did it the best way, bearing in mind that's what the instruction leaflet said to do, a few laps round Castle Combe with savage applications from 120+ mph to about 40 until they start to fade then leave for 10 mins & job done biggrin

But I usually go for the up to 70mph & brake hard to 20mph & repeat 4 or 5 times for decent pads & 2 or 3 times for normal pads

I suspect this is going to go exactly the same way as the 'running in an engine' thread.

It depends on the pads, but if you're going for the beat the crap out of them method, make sure you don't park/stop until they've cooled down properly.

Here is the bedding in procedure for Pagid pads.

Follow the manufactures recommended procedure.
