lots of brits go, they make up the majority

what is it you want to know?

Do you need to register, especially for doing the tour of the town and the hill climb? If so how?

Is it just turn up on the day and hope for the best, or since you say the majority are Brits, do we all just form an orderly queue?

The majority of people go through motoring travel companies, they make all the arrangements, hotels/registration etc...
We went a couple of years back and it was getting over subscribed then, a victim of its own success. The run around the town on the Sunday was slow as the organizers put vans in the run to slow people down. If you want to see classic MGs Triumphs etc in an historic setting then you won't be disappointed.
Use the seach facility there have been a few threads on Laon over the last couple of years, will give you other peoples views.
