Another MOT pass for the Griff!!
Discussion
My 4.3 sailed through its MOT yesterday afternoon. There was a minor advisory regarding the diffused beam pattern on the O/S dipped beam lamp. This was interesting because I did not think it gave as sharp a spread as the N/S which is a newish lamp. I think the cause is a hazy glass surface, so when we get a nice warm summer day (hopeful), I shall take the wheel off and remove the lamp and bulb holder plate and see if I can clean up the glass and reflector. But apart from that he said the car was in really good condition, especially underneath. It is a place I have used for years for our cars (MOT's, tyres etc), so I know them. Was good because I sat in the car operating the lights ad holding the rev's at 2000 for the emissions test (good pass there, well inside the limits).
Just waiting for some time now to drain the coolant, take the rad out for re-coring and then fit the nice set of ACT silicon hose and stainless pipes I have waiting. Al the best, Pete

Pete,
I had the same problem with my front lights before I swapped them over. I tried to clean the inside of the lens through the small apperture at the end. There are 3 torx screws which will come off the back of the lamp unit to make it a little easier. The inside of the lens is not smooth, so cleaning isn't at all easy and I didn't get a good result. Might be worth seeing if anyone else on here has managed a different technique.

Many thanks Jeboa, I recently had to remove the back plate from a main beam light unit (story on another thread here). I know it is going to be a pain, but I will persevere as I do not want to have to try and change the light unit, my pod covers are really nicely sealed in and look neat - so do not want to disturb if I can help it. I have some lens cleaning alcohol so plan to remove the plate as you suggested, then try a piece of foam on a length of dowel, followed up by a wad of absorbent paper towel. Anyway, shall wait until I have a free sunny warm day! Lots of driving days hopefully before I tackle that. All the best, PeteI had the same problem with my front lights before I swapped them over.
