Right gang,

Frothy coolant and mayonnaise in the oil breather/filler.

Never a good sign, obviously.

In true bangernomics style, how long do we reckon until it properly expires?

(It was 900 two years ago next month so a repair isn't going to be feasible/worthwhile in any capacity)

Runs fine, doesn't overheat - I suspect however this won't last long.

Thoughts appreciated.

if it's only being used for short journeys then you may not even have an issue, I wouldn't worry till you start losing coolant!

I had both a 205GTI and a 309GTI (same engine) back in the 90s. Both used to gum up with mayo, but it seemed to be the nature of the engine. Never had any further problems and I just used to clean it out of the oil cap and pipes etc. Others with the same cars used to get it so I just took it as normal/quirky. They weren't the strongest engines to be honest.

If the coolant isn't low, it's not a HG issue.
Surely a classic hot hatch like the 205 is worth a HG anyway?
