I'm getting the TVR itch and think that I'll be in a position to scratch it in the not so distant future.
Does any one know either of these cars??

Nice and low mileage, only one owner and looks good.

Looks good, not that bothered about the mileage, newer but is 7 owners something to worry about.

First one looks like a two owners car to me too... Current owner has only had it for 6yrs.
The red one is confusing me... if it's got a 4.5 batch on the back, why does he say it's a 4.2, with the "same internals as the 4.5" (which would make it a 4.5 to me), but a 4.2 induction...

It is my understanding that the later cars had a 4.5 bottom end. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
The steering issue doesn't really worry me as I have my own computer aligner. Should I be concerned by the amount of previous owners??
I really need to drive some, got an XJR at the moment so I'm guessing it will feel alot smaller around my legs.
Not to start a debate but 4.2 or 4.5??

Not as I see it. You've said you want to scratch the itch and a lot of people have bought these cars thinking just that, me included. Some will find it's not what they were after after scratching the itch and move it on. Mine had had a similar number of owners when I bought it. Definitely worth an inspection and buying from over here I'd say rather than paying those prices. How much would it cost to export a car out there and how would it add up re the emissions tests/taxes?

Mines is a 4.2 and It's got a 4.5 badge on it, when I bought it I just put it down to one of the quirks of having a TVR.
7 owners could mean one of two things:
1. As above, it's been bought to scratch an itch, and then the owner realised that it wasn't so practical an itch to scratch.
2. It's been bought & due to the problems these cars inevitably have, the typical running costs etc, that they've moved it on in favour of a cheaper to run car.
In both cases, you have an increased risk that it hasn't been properly cared for as much when compared to a car that has had a single owner for an extended period. Cerb ownership requires financial commitment much like any classic supercar, or if you don't have the money, you need to be a good mechanic, and be prepared to invest a lot of time.
For example my car had 3 owners in the last 3 years, and it's clear that each of them wasn't prepared for Cerbera ownership, and have not addressed some of the "less than critical" issues, which when left over time build up to be more serious.
I had a recent garage bill of £2.4k, and as soon as I've recovered (about 2-3 months) it is going back again for another £2k to be spent. After that it should be pretty mint for a '98 4.5 V8.
Be prepared, even with an engineer's inspection there are things which will be missed, and it will cost.
If you go with the 7 previous owners one, I'd set aside £4-5k over the first service period, just to deal with any untreated minor maladies.....the other thing which gets the alarm bells ringing is the fact that they only want £15,950 for a 53-plate.....I'd be asking lots of questions as to why?....
However, once you make the plunge and get a sorted car, or one you are prepared to invest time and/or money into, you will have a permanent smile each time you get behind the wheel, and press the loud pedal...the Cerb fires you into the horizon like an Apollo Moon Rocket....it's scarily fast for so little money.
