What you get:
1 Dual timing or Single timing power amplifier, suitable for the Rover V8 engine.
Will this fit my engine?
This amplifier will fit all the standard Rover V8 distributors, both single point and electronic, (excluding the early Lucas Opus system) and will also work in conjunction with the Mallory Unalite and Dual Point Distributor. If you have the early Lucas Opus distributor we seriously suggest that you upgrade from this system as it will be losing you 2 - 3 miles per gallon on fuel economy and much more in performance terms as well.

spot on my car does not need one but i have a merc 380 sl that needs one so will get rid of old points and replace with this cant run any worse
I have fitted many Aldon electronic ignition kits (similar to that one) to customers classic cars and they have all been pleased with the outcome it also dulls any wear in the dizzy that usually affects points systems, just remember to carry the old points & condenser and mounting screws in the ash tray or similar
that way if you have ign failure you can get yourself home my reverting back to the old system or give it to the RAC/AA guy, just a heads up

This is just an ignition amp, and wont do any better than the stock setup on a TVR. It does have the nice touch of altering the timing for LPG use, not thats needed on TVR's. The input circitry is designed to be switcable from either the magnetic trigger on the electronic dizzy's or points if you still use them, so its pretty multifuctional. The bit about 2-3 mpg would only apply if you had been using points, and the stock Lucas amp actually out performs the A&R unit on peak voltage, yet this is what they sell it on! Technically spark energy is controlled by the available energy in the coil, which goes down as the rpm rises and the dwell period shortens, and the amount of power dissipation in the HT leads resistive path. No amount of changing ignition amps will alter these parameters. The reason why an electronic switch is much better than points is you dont get the arc as the points open, that is effectively wasted energy and scatters the timing. What you get:
